Wild week

Image
Kia ora everybody! How is everybody doing? I'm doing pretty good. I'm going to try and keep this one short, got a busy week ahead with MLC training that starts today. Anyways, this week was transfers and I got my new companion Elder Fa'oliu. He's the man and it's been pretty fun learning some Tongan from him. I can now pray in Tongan which is pretty cool. I'm still in this area which is awesome. I hope I stay for a while. This week we did heaps of service, which I love. One for a breast cancer awareness fundraiser, and another for a Tiaki Ariki tournament (Maori version of dodgeball). We were the refs for the tournament which was pretty fun. It was such a busy week this week with all the services that it just flew by. One of my favorite things from this week was that I got to play in a basketball tournament game. I was asked by one of the members in the ward, and two of our friends who are on date for baptism to play. Of course, I had to get permission from Pres...

Transfers

Kia ora whanau!! How was everybody's week? I hope it was wonderful. This week was honestly such a great week. First of all, lets get into transfer news. So, I'm staying here in Porirua and getting a new companion. His name is elder Fa'oliu and he's from Tonga🇹🇴. I've served with him before and he's the man. Honestly I'm super excited to stay and for my companion as well.  Heres a little update on the work. So, this week we were able to put one of our friends Jonah on date for December 2nd. Also, his friend Isaiah that we've been trying to work with decided to join the lessons and now he is on date for the 2nd as well. So, that was a really cool miracle. This all happened because of one of our members who is good buddies with them. So, everybody please pray for Jonah and Isaiah. I'm super excited to keep working with them.  Not much else has happened this week. I had to sing at one of our devotionals and man that was nerve wracking. I've never s...

Kia ora whanau! How is everybody? I Hope all is well back home. Anyways, this week was a pretty good week out here in P town. The work has been going pretty good. We got all of our friends to church this Sunday which was awesome. The efforts from this transfer have been paying off. A little bit of sad news with one of our friends Jonado. Jonado is the 10 year old Samoan kid that we had on date. This week he told us that he can't be baptized anymore. His mom had a talk with her parents who are Seventh Day Adventist, and they told the mom that if Jonado got baptized into our church, they weren't allowed to ever come around their house. Basically they are disowning their own grandchild over a baptism. It's really sad how people can act and treat each other. So, Jonado and his family decided that it would be best if he didn't get baptized, just to keep the family relations all good. So, that was heartbreaking news. But, we are going to put one of our friends that we found f...

General conference

Fakalofa lahi atu(hello in Niuean)! How is life everybody? I hope you are all doing good. Life is great, I cannot complain. Time is just flying right now, weeks feel like days.  Anyways, the work is going alright. We kept busy all week. We're having good lessons and everything. But, the only problem right now is that nobody comes to church. Only one of our friends comes and he comes every week. One of our friends that is on date for the end of the month has told us the last 3 weeks he would come. He hasn't come to a single one. Honestly, the only thing holding him back from coming is sleeping in and his parents. Yesterday, they told us they would come to the first session of conference. So, we went to their house at 9 to try and wake them up, but after knocking for a while there was no success. Then, we came back after the first session of conference to see if they'd come to the afternoon session. They had just woken up and it was 1 o'clock. They said they would come to...

Windy wellyz

Kia ora tatou. Hope you all had a great week this week. The week here was pretty good. The weather here was awful this week though. It feels like I haven't seen the sun the entire time I've been in Porirua. It's supposed to be spring and warming up, but it seems to be getting colder than it has been. Everyday has been windy as and super rainy. It's been pretty miserable for the work but we're toughing through it. The weather was the worst on Saturday and of course this was the day that we gave the car to the other elders. So, we walked all day in the 50 mph winds and pouring rain. After a while, we stopped at a members house and watched the All Blacks rugby team destroy Italy in the rugby world cup. Go All Blacks!!! I should have known the weather was going to be trash when the nickname for the Wellington area is windy wellyz. Please pray that the sun will come out soon in Porirua. Anyways, other than all of that the week was awesome. We were able to put our friend ...
