General conference

Fakalofa lahi atu(hello in Niuean)! How is life everybody? I hope you are all doing good. Life is great, I cannot complain. Time is just flying right now, weeks feel like days. 


Anyways, the work is going alright. We kept busy all week. We're having good lessons and everything. But, the only problem right now is that nobody comes to church. Only one of our friends comes and he comes every week. One of our friends that is on date for the end of the month has told us the last 3 weeks he would come. He hasn't come to a single one. Honestly, the only thing holding him back from coming is sleeping in and his parents. Yesterday, they told us they would come to the first session of conference. So, we went to their house at 9 to try and wake them up, but after knocking for a while there was no success. Then, we came back after the first session of conference to see if they'd come to the afternoon session. They had just woken up and it was 1 o'clock. They said they would come to the afternoon. But, as you may have guessed, we still did not see them there for the afternoon session. It's really pretty frustrating when you’re doing all you can to get your friends to church and the only thing holding them back is just laziness. But ya, that's pretty much a good update on the work right now. If any of you got any tips on getting friends to church, I would greatly appreciate it.

I wanted to share a miracle this week that actually came from general conference. So, for the past 2 or 3 months I have been trying to get better at listening to and recognizing the spirit. I just feel that I've never really been in tune with it while I'm working. I've really been focusing on listening to it better lately, but I've had no success really. I asked for heaps of advice from people on how to get better at it. But, nobody has really given me an answer that has helped. So, I've been praying and asking for guidance on how to recognize the spirit just about every day for the past 2 or 3 months. But, I wasn't getting any answers and I just kinda forgot about it recently. Then, on the Saturday afternoon session of conference, Gary E. Stevensons talk came on. His talk was literally a perfect blueprint and solution to my problems. He gave a 4 step process in his talk on how to better listen to and recognize the spirit. Here is that process:
1. Stand in Holy places
2. Stand with holy people
3. Testify of holy truths
4. Listen to the Holy spirit
This was the perfect answer to a prayer. The spirit was so strong while i was listening to this talk. Right as he was talking about those 4 points, I knew that this was God's answer to my prayers. It also helped me remember that God's answers don't come immediately. Safe to say that I am running on a spiritual high right now after General conference. I actually love it so much and am so grateful for a living prophet and apostles. Just a little reminder to go listen to it if you haven’t already.

Malo e lelei everybody! I hope that you have all had a wonderful week. I hope that each of you wished your mothers a happy mothers day. If you haven't, make sure to go do that now. I would also like to apologize for being terrible at writing emails every week, especially to my mother. It's been a busy few weeks, but they have been awesome. We got to go to the temple again last week. So that meant packing up and driving a van 7 hours up to Hamilton with a bunch of other missionaries. It was super fun, I love a good road trip. I'm so blessed to have gone on a couple temple trips while I've been serving here. It is not to easy to get up there, and it definitely isn't cheap. Each time I go I am reminded of God's Plan of Salvation. One of the things that really stood out to me this time is that when we sacrifice things in our life, it is a similitude to the Savior's sacrifice. Jonah's baptism

Kia ora everybody!! I hope you all had a great week. This week was very busy for us, but it was also an awesome week. Most of the week we spent just focusing on preparing for the baptism. Other than that, we had some pretty good days of work. We put another one of our friends on date for January 5th. His name is Dante and he's doing really good right now with the discussions. He has a ton of member support from his uncle and he's coming to church heaps. His mother, that is really inactive, came to church for the first time in a year or so. So, that has been really cool to see. I'm loving the area right now because everything is starting to click and we're starting to get things rolling. Anyways, we had Jonahs baptism on Saturday. That was an awesome experience. The spirit was so strong and heaps of people came to it as well. His entire family is either inactive or nonmembers, and they all came to the baptism. Scabies and hospital trips

Kia ora everybody!! I hope you have all had a fantastic couple of weeks. To be completely honest mine haven't been. But that's alright. Anyways, not much to report on for these last 2 weeks, unfortunately. So, me and my companion and the other elders in our flat were put in quarantine all of last week, along with other companionships in the zone. I was exposed to a bug called Scabies, you may have heard the name. I actually was infested by the bug. I had bites all over my back and arms. It really isn't that harmful of a bug, just feels like mosquito bites. But, it's pretty serious because it can spread really easily. So, we had to coop ourselves up in our flat for a whole week. We had to deep clean everything to help get rid of it. Other than that, we did nothing but sit around the flat and play card games. Safe to say we were all a little depressed, but we made it out.
