Thanksgiving🦃

Kia ora whanau!! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving week. Mine was really good to be honest. We actually had Thanksgiving out here which was a miracle.

So, in New Zealand they don't celebrate Thanksgiving sadly. I didn't really expect to have one this year. But, thank goodness for American senior couples. In our zone we have one senior couple and their name is the Moffets. They are from Bountiful and they are awesome. They put on a massive Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. We even got turkey which is crazy, cuz there is not a single turkey in all of New Zealand. Somehow, our mission president found one and brought it. Anyways, the feed was massive. Our whole zone gathered and we just had a great feast. It was cool to show some of the missionaries in our zone Thanksgiving, because a lot of them grew up on the islands, NZ, or Australia and never had Thanksgiving before. My companion tried turkey for the first time and he loved it. Safe to say it was such a fun gathering and we all enjoyed it.

Here's an update on the work. So, our friend Jonah is still on date for this week. We are just working with him to help him prepare for Saturday. We are still teaching his friend Isaiah and trying to help him prepare as well. We had a little miracle this week where the uncle of one of our friends told us that his nephew Dante (12 year old kid we are teaching) has committed to baptism. We are meeting again with him this week to sus that all out. But ya, that's all for now. I'm loving the area and I'm starting to actually see the area and ward grow. It's super cool to see the fruits of your work over time and seeing the Lord's hand in all of it. I hope I stay here for awhile cuz I love it.

I thought I'd update you all on my weight loss. So at the start of the transfer i was 111 KGs (245 pounds). And now 5 weeks into the transfer, I am 104 KGs (230 pounds). So I've lost 7KGs/15 pounds. It's about time, I really was getting pretty fat and needed to cut off the weight. It was showing in my pants as well. I ripped 2 of my favorite pants, and 2 shorts🤣.

Nothing else really happened this week. We had stake conference which was good. We sang in the ward choir for it. And we also had a missionary musical item. So, we were singing heaps all week. Some crazy things have also happened on our street. We live right in the ghetto part of town. Our next door neighbors to our left are a part of the Mongrel mob which is a gang here. Just this last week, our neighbor got arrested, there was a fight between this girl and a guy right in front of our house, and every night this crazy drug woman always walks by our house and is yelling wild things. It keeps me entertained so I cannot complain.

But yo, that's all from me. I love you all. I'm sorry this was a bit long. Ofa ma'u pe hei keinga (love one another). My tiny spiritual thought for the week is to love one another as Jesus did.

our member Adam made me and my hoa a Matau (fish hook). Basically, it represents the same thing that is in Moana. It is a story of maui and his fish hook that comes from the pacific.
