Transfers

Kia ora yall!! Hope you're having a lovely week. I'm doing awesome. Having a good time out here and loving life. This has been a good and very long transfer. The 8 weeks is finally up.

Alrighty, so we got transfer news the other day and I am moving again. I know, I'm kinda sad about it too. This is already my 6th area in my mission. So, I am definitely tired of packing up and leaving almost every transfer. I've been living out of my suit case for way too long. Anyways, a little news about the transfer. I'm getting transferred to Nelson, which is on the south island on the very north part of the island. From what I've heard it is beautiful. I'm going to be zone leader and I get to be companions with Elder Tidwell, which is Elder Landon Nash's cousin. Kinda crazy. I'm excited, he seems like a stud! I get to fly for transfers since it's on the south island. Not many people get to say they fly for transfers so it's pretty cool.

A quick update on the work in the area rn. So, we've been doing pretty good. Working hard and seeing miracles. We put our friend Niko on Baptismal date this week. He's the grandson of one of our less active members. We've been teaching him and it's also been good because it's also helping reactivate the grandpa. They read the Book of Mormon every night and have been coming to church every week. So, Im pretty confident he's going to get baptized. Sadly, I'm getting transferred right when the area started to pick up. That's alright, I just hope he continues on the right path.

I'll just tell yall a quick funny story. It actually relates to the story from last week's email. So, if you guys remember my email you'll know I talked about a weird Maori guy confront me and my companion on the street, and then he just walked away and gave a hug. Well, me and my soa saw him again this week. We were just walking around the same area of Lower Hutt and we hear someone yell "Elders!" from across the street. We turn around and see the same dude. I'm just like oh no, not again. He's walking up to us just saying random weird stuff. A lot of the Maori guys out here love talking a lot. They are really cool. But this guy was super drunk. When he's walking up, out of all the words he said I only understood "hongi". Which is the Maori greeting where they touch noses. So, when I heard that, I was just like oh nah this is bout to get weird. Hongi's are usually cool and I've gotten used to them, but this man had a beer in his hand which ruins it. So, he comes up and basically kisses me. Almost full lip contact. He smelt like alcohol and it was the most uncomfortable thing. My companion came from the south island and they don't have much Maori people down there so he'd never done it. So he thought the dude was trying to kiss him! It was just a really awkward situation. Anyways, I thought you'd enjoy that.

Alright, I love you all and I hope you have a good week. Stay safe and remember to read your scriptures!
