Telofa lava yall! Hope you guys are doing good. I'm doing alright. Just chilling right about now.
Anyways, a little update on the work. We are teaching a grandson of one of our members and he is pretty keen so that's cool. Might put him on date for baptism this week, we'll see how it goes. Other than that we are having not much success with the rest of our friends. They all are super busy and can never meet with us. Or they just bail on us last minute. But, the work keeps moving. Which reminds me of a scripture I came across this week. It is Doctrine and Covenants 24:7
"For thou shalt devote all thy service in Zion; and in this thou shalt have strength."
Pretty simple, yet very wise words.
One good thing that happened this week, was I was able to teach my companion how to ride a bike. That was hilarious but honestly so cool. It took a lot of convincing to get him out and trying it, but we did it. He still has more to learn. He doesn't know how to turn. But he can bike straight for now. It took about 2 hours to get him to ride all the way down the driveway. Let's just say there were some very interesting methods used to help him. At the start, I literally just started by holding him up while having him pedal. That didn't seem to help. Then, I tried steering the handle bars for him. That didn't really help. Then, I thought to hold the bar in the middle of the bike while he was going. That actually seemed to help a bit. But, what helped best was just trial and error. With a lot of patience and love we were able to get him all the way down that driveway. I'll have to show yall the video.
Spiritual thought: well, to go along with the biking, I would like to talk about trial and error. Our purpose in this life is to learn, grow and progress. What I've found from especially my mission and mostly my whole life, is that we must make some mistakes in this life so that we can learn and grow. None of us learned how to ride a bike without falling over. The only way that we can learn how to ride a bike, is by learning from our mistakes. By correcting our mistakes we are able to slowly get better and better. It is a constant progression. So, in this life, when we make mistakes, fall over, and trip, we have the Atonement of Christ to pick us back up and correct our mistakes. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is a gift to us so that we can progress in this life. It is such a blessing to know our purpose in this life. I know that our purpose is to learn grow and progress, and I also know that Jesus Christ's ultimate sacrifice is what can help us learn grow and progress. Ladies and gentlemen, never go a day without using the wonderful gift of the Atonement. His sacrifice was given for us so that we could use it. So, simply use it!
Peace out yall. Manuia le po
