Merry Christmas from Kansas
Good morning everybody! Hope all is well. I hope you all enjoyed Christmas and got some cool presents. I also hope you guys remembered the Savior this holiday season.
This week was very long honestly. We weren't able to do much work because of Christmas and weather. We basically only worked Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday it was -30 wind chill here in Kansas, so we weren't allowed outside. Then, on Friday we had our Christmas party which was awesome. But Christmas eve and Christmas we weren't able to do any work because all of our friends were busy. So ya it wasn't a very good week, quite boring honestly. The two days that we got to work were miserable. We knocked and did visits all day and nobody answered or they slammed the door in our face so that sucked. It's been a slow couple of weeks so we are really hoping to pick things back up now that Christmas is over.
Even though we didn't do anything on Christmas and had a dinner appointment bail, it was still a great day. One thing I learned this year is that Christmas is not about having fun or opening presents, but that it is about the Savior alone. The spirit that I felt yesterday was all that I needed for Christmas this year. I do want to share a message that my aunt shared with me this week. So, we'll go into the spiritual thought.
My aunt sent me a talk that she gave about the Savior and his birth. The biggest thing that I got from it was the humble circumstances that the Savior was born in. There was no room in the Inn, so he was born in a farm stable. The most perfect being that has ever lived was born in a Manger in a room with donkeys and pigs and other farm animals. It really helped humble me this Christmas. I was a little bummed about not being with family and not having a huge Christmas tree with tons of presents underneath. But, as I remembered the Savior and his birth, I realized that I don't need any of those things to enjoy Christmas. I was able to simply just focus on the Savior and his birth and that was honestly really special. This will be a Christmas that I will remember forever, and not because of presents, or parties, or hanging out with family, but because of the time that I had to focus on the Savior and really come to understand why we celebrate Christmas. So, even though Christmas is over, I would like to invite yall to take some time this week to focus on the Savior and all that he has done for us. There's my spiritual thought for the week.
Anyways, not much happened this week. Sorry about that. I'll try to get some funny stories for next week's email. We haven't got any news for my flight plans yet. But I do know that I have to be there at the beginning of January so that is pretty cool. I'm definitely excited about getting to NZ. Just got to wait a little bit longer. Alright, I love yall and hope you guys have a great week and an awesome new year.
Merry late Christmas!!
