Happy Thanksgiving!!
Hey yall, hope this week was great for you guys. Thanksgiving is definitely not the same out here. But it was still a great day. Food was sub par but it's more about a day of giving thanks than just good food. Good food definitely helps tho.
Kansas is Kansas. That's all I can say. This week was definitely the roughest week as far as mission work. We raked all week for random people and nobody cared to listen to a message. Thanksgiving is not a great week for mission work here that's for sure.
But there were a couple of good things that happened this week. Last Tuesday, We got our friend Jeremiah to commit to coming to church. I also got a little bit second hand high while we were there. His step son Josh was blowing clouds right in our face and I started to feel weird so we left. Don't do drugs kids! Now the Golden question is, did he come to church? No, he did not. But that's alright. We learned on Saturday night that the only reason he kept inviting us over is that he wants to convert us. We never know what is going on with him because he is always drunk. That was a bummer. But we were just glad that he committed, even though he bailed on us. But, we did find this super cool guy on Sunday named Dan. He was awesome and we will be teaching him again soon. One thing I learned this week is that you have to find the positives even if there aren't many.
We had a great lesson with Brandi and Brother Bolden on Sunday night. This was a lesson we had kind of dreaded for a while, but we did it. It was the law of chastity and from lessons in the past we had learned that they were definitely not living it. But that's why we are here, to teach. So, before the lesson we studied for a bit to make sure we had everything to the tee. Then, we went in and completely chastised them. Just kidding, definitely did not do that! But we did get them to commit to it after a lot of complaining and very inappropriate comments. They are still working on some things, they have stopped doing a lot of word of wisdom stuff and are working on that. So it was great to see them progressing. They still have a lot of stuff holding them from baptism but there is progression.
We had zone conference this week which was great, but man was it hard to stay awake during it. On the way home I completely knocked out in the passenger seat. Loved seeing the zone tho.
Anyways, for the spiritual thought of the week I wanted talk about the significance of the Book of Mormon. Out here on the mission I have learned a lot of deep doctrine stuff. Which is interesting but most people say to stay away from it because it can be a lot to handle. It is definitely cool to learn about, but in my opinion it doesn't matter to me. But, I can testify to you all that the Book of Mormon is truly all we need to have a testimony of Jesus Christ. There is a reason why it is considered a "keystone to our religion". It is the best way that we can come closer to our Savior. I can whole heartedly testify of that. It is the most powerful book on earth in my opinion, which is a very bold claim, so I want you all to gain your own testimony of it. Go read from it every day. I can testify to you that it will bring countless blessings in your life and bring you so much happiness.
Alright yall, have a good week.
