General Conference

Malo e lelei everybody! I hope you all had a blessed week. I'm sorry it's been a while, we've just been busy with a lot of stuff recently. It's all super repetitive and not very exciting. We've had transfers, intakes, outtakes, zone conferences, and a lot of long meetings, but it has been good. I can't complain because we get a lot of special opportunities.

We had a pretty cool miracle this week. We were taking a new missionary to the bus stop to take him to his first area. We had some time to kill when we got there, so I thought we'd go and talk to some people to get the new elder some missionary experiences. I felt prompted to go and walk this one direction to a bridge that I had never walked across. A group of people passed by and we started saying hello to them. One of them stopped and began to talk to us. He said that he saw us all dressed up and wondered who we were and what we were doing. We began to give him the whole shpeel, and we were able to teach him about prophets and general conference coming up this weekend. He was super keen on coming and said that he felt peace while talking with us. He didn't end up coming to general conference because he was busy, but we're going to keep working with him. It was just cool to see and recognize a spiritual prompting and see a miracle come from it.

My favorite talk from General Conference was from Elder Dushku. He was in the Saturday morning session. He began to talk about divine rays in our life. He said "I have not seen a pillar of light, but, like you, I have experienced many divine rays." I loved this so much because I can relate to it. Sometimes, we expect pillars of light to come into our lives to show us evidence that Jesus Christ is real and that he did all that the scriptures say. But, for almost all of us, that is not how it works. Each of us receive little divine rays to nourish and strengthen our testimonies. We each receive small spiritual experiences that testify to us that this is His true church. These small spiritual experiences begin to add up over time and one day if we continue to let it grow, it will grow into a pillar of light. I would invite you all to go read or reread Elder Dushku's talk.

That's it from me folks. Have a good week everybody. Ofa lahi atu. Ofa ma'u pehei kainga.
