Jonah's baptism
Kia ora everybody!! I hope you all had a great week. This week was very busy for us, but it was also an awesome week.
Most of the week we spent just focusing on preparing for the baptism. Other than that, we had some pretty good days of work. We put another one of our friends on date for January 5th. His name is Dante and he's doing really good right now with the discussions. He has a ton of member support from his uncle and he's coming to church heaps. His mother, that is really inactive, came to church for the first time in a year or so. So, that has been really cool to see. I'm loving the area right now because everything is starting to click and we're starting to get things rolling.
Anyways, we had Jonahs baptism on Saturday. That was an awesome experience. The spirit was so strong and heaps of people came to it as well. His entire family is either inactive or nonmembers, and they all came to the baptism. It was good for them to be there and I hope they were able to feel the spirit like I did. This was the first time in my mission where I've been there for somebody's entire journey to baptism. So, it meant a lot to me to be able to see him go down in the water. I'm so happy and excited about the decision he has made and the path that he is on right now. He is the man!!
The other elders also had another baptism that same day. So, we were pretty busy all day at the church. We went to their's later in the day to prepare for it. We were going to drop them off an hour early, but when we got there the font was empty. We had left it full from ours, so somehow it had drained in between ours and theirs, which if you don't know, is a very big problem! It takes about 2 hours to fill the font, and we only had about 50 minutes before the baptism. So, we grab some buckets and bowls from our place and started filling them and dumping them in the font to make it go faster. It was pretty stressful, but we were able to finish it up right on time. So, basically all of Saturday was spent at baptisms and helping prepare for them, which I am definitely not complaining about. That is where missionaries want to be on Saturdays.
The only other thing that happened this week is that we got transfer news. So, both me and my companion are staying in this area. Which is exactly what I wanted so I'm pretty happy right now. Other than that, not much news. I hope you all have a wonderful week and keep praying and reading your scriptures!!
