Nelson
Kia ora everybody. Its been a good week, I hope you're all doing good. Let me know if there's anything I can do for you guys.
Well, this area is super cool. We are covering a branch even though it's bigger than most wards. 150 people come to church every week which is like double what wards get. The only reason they aren't a ward is because there isn't a stake in the area. So, we get a giant branch. Not complaining. The area is beautiful. It's super green and hilly and tropical, we are right next to the beach. Also, not to forget, we are probably in one of the nicest missionary flat/apartment/houses ever. Kid you not it is ridiculous how nice and big this place is. I've only been used to old and trashy flats, but for some reason I've been blessed this transfer. So, this zone is a bit interesting. It is a very large zone and all the missionaries are very spread out. We have a set of missionaries in Greymouth which is 4 hours away from us. Then, we have another set of missionaries in West Port which is 3 hours away from us. Then, we have another set of elders that are 2 hours away from us. So, basically exchanges are going to be 80% driving and 20% missionary work. Not complaining though because I've heard they are beautiful drives. Alright, a little about the ward. So, the ward is like 80% Maori, and they are all related. It is all one family, and one of the sister missionaries that is serving in the same branch is related to all of them. Kind of crazy. One thing that is awesome about the branch is we get to go to the marae a lot and be a part of their culture. Sorry, that was a long explanation about the area.
Me and my comp Elder Tidwell get along super well. Let me just say it is refreshing to have an American companion again. Tired of those Aussie's. Nah just kidding I've loved all my Australian companions. But, it's always nice to have a companion that you can relate to.
Not much happened this week. All we really did was visit members, and people the past elders were teaching. Friday and Saturday we spent all day preparing for the final testimony meeting with President on Saturday. It was awesome. President and Sister Thomson are definitely going to be missed. They are the best examples for us and truly show us what it means to be Christlike. They taught me so much and I'm so grateful for all they've done. I love the Thomsons and I'm going to miss them a lot, but, I'm also excited for the new president. Going to be praying for him for sure. Don't know how he's going to just jump right in and keep this mission going with very little preparation.
Alright, that's it from me. I love you all and so does Jesus Christ! Have a good one.
