Awkward lessons
What's up yall!! Hope you guys are all doing good. This week was good but the work was very slow. That's alright tho. Gonna have a better week this week. Not much really happened this week, so sorry if it's boring. Had a lot of doors slammed and got cussed at a lot this week.
Anyways, we had a couple of interesting lessons this week. The first one was with Brandi and her kids. If you guys remember from last week, she is really crazy and has no filter. So, we went to their house prepared for a long visit because they always have something crazy to talk about. We wanted to follow up on the word of wisdom which she said she would follow, but we went over there and she was vaping so that was sad. But, we also wanted to talk about the law of chastity which is already awkward as it is. But we didn't even need to bring it up because they just started talking about their love life without us teaching anything. Let's just say some pretty gnarly things were said by her and her kids. After that we said maybe we just wait for next lesson to teach the law of chastity. So, we're gonna do that this week. Please pray for us yall!
Had a great visit/lesson with our boy Jeremiah. Jeremiah is the man! Love that dude. Anyways, we headed to the small town of Rock, Kansas where he lives. We wanted to follow up on his Book of Mormon reading. But he was pretty skeptic about the Book of Mormon because of a scene in South Park that he showed us lol. It was pretty funny but we tried to tell him that South Park was very incorrect. He ordered us some pizza as we hung out for a couple of hours and talked about the Book of Mormon and stuff. His bong spilled all over me and my comp lol. It was sitting on the table and his big dog Gary came and knocked it over. Don't worry we were not taking a hit of it. So, that was fun. Anyways, he had told us about how him and his buddies were going to take some shrooms this weekend, which is not something we wanted to hear. But, he asked us if we had anything we wanted to ask God so he could ask God while he was high. So, to make the best out of a bad situation, we told him to ask God if the Book of Mormon was true. Probably not a good idea to say that because we don't want him to get a witness of the Book of Mormon while high, but hey, if it means that we can bring him closer to Christ and bring him the many blessings of this gospel then I am all for it. I kinda hope I stay here for a bit because I really want to baptize Jeremiah.
It's true that you do grow to love the people. I just wish that I could show Jeremiah all of the blessings and happiness that this gospel has brought me. That's all I want for everybody here. That's one thing I've learned in this area is that you actually have to become friends with the people and love them. You can't just be a robot missionary and go for the key indicators or the good area book. Which leads me to my spiritual thought for the week:
D&C 18:10-11
10 Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God;
11 For, behold, the Lord your Redeemer suffered death in the flesh; wherefore he suffered the pain of all men, that all men might repent and come unto him.
One thing to remember for all of us, especially missionaries, is that the people we teach are all Heavenly Father's children. They are not a number. So, love all of them, even those that cuss at you and slam their door. Love them. Especially Love the ones you teach. I can testify to you guys that teaching people with pure love and showing them that you actually care will have a much bigger and longer lasting impact in their lives than teaching purely for a number on the chart. Because through that unconditional love and care you will be able to then show them the happiness and peace that this gospel brings.
Alright yall, that is it for the week. I hope you guys have an awesome week. Stay safe pls and most importantly......
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
