Timbuktu

Well good morning folks. How is everybody? This week has been good, it kinda flew by. It was a very busy one that's for sure. Just doing good ol' mission work everyday.

This was probably the best week for mission work. Had some crazy miracles I'll tell yall about. The first miracle happened on Thursday on exchanges. I went to College Hill with Elder Hatt. College Hill basically covers the areas around Wichita State. That was a wild day for sure. Anyways, we were teaching a lesson to this old guy named Mike. He had been taught for like 6 months so we kinda used the lesson as a practice for me. So I practiced my restoration. We didn't have any hopes for this lesson because he had never wanted to get baptized. But i got into the lesson and things were going great. The spirit was so strong it was crazy. Then he told us that he believed in the BOM and Joseph Smith and all that good stuff. So i was thinking why won't this guy get baptized. Elder Hatt then asked him "what do you need to do knowing all this, because we can't just keep teaching you even tho your not progressing". Then the old man sat in silence for like 30 seconds and said "well I guess I ought to be baptized". So we put him on date haha. Then, the next day, we met this family called the Melendez family. It was a single mother with a bunch of sons. All her sons had been baptized except for one. And he said he would like to be baptized. So that could be a very easy baptism hopefully.

Another interesting thing that happened on exchanges was with this guy named Jedediah. Jed is a super interesting guy. He was baptized 4 months ago, but he completely forgot about it. I will explain that in a sec. So, Jed lives in the hood. And Jed had an accident where he got hit by a car. And now he has problems with his memory. He has a tuff life and his situation right now is not ideal. His uncle that he lives with tried to shoot him, and his only support system is his mom so he's just super down in life right now. So, we go to visit Jedediah, and he's just walking down the street yelling at people. Then we get out of the car and had a super long conversation about life and the Church. Our goal was to try and get him back to church. But I could kind of tell that that wasn't going to happen. He asked a bunch of questions about how Jesus Christ could feel the pain that he was feeling. We tried to explain the Atonement and he just wouldn't listen. After about an hour of talking, he started to get mad and started yelling at us. Then he started cussing at us. So we started to walk to the truck while he continued to cuss at us. That was super fun. It's a super sad story, sorry I thought I'd share that that yall.

Now to explain the title. Our area Rose Hill consists of a very small town named Rose Hill and then the rest is like all farms and cotton fields and corn. I've told yall this already. But, there is a place that we haven't been to in our area because there is literally not a single person there. It is a small town called Bloomington. Anyways, we went to go visit some houses that were in between Rose Hill and Bloomington. This was the farthest I'd been in my area. It was a 40 minute drive of pure corn fields. So it felt like we were in Timbuktu lol. We get to the house out there and there's just cows and then a small shack. Can't even get in the yard cuz there's a lock. Then we drive another 10 minutes to another house in the middle of nowhere. People are shooting guns in their backyard lol. Nobody answered haha. So basically we drove 40 minutes for nothing.

Also helped a woman fix her car and got her a job all in one day so that was cool.

Sorry yall not much has happened this week. Trying to make these things as interesting as possible but it's hard here in Kansas.

I hope yall have a good week. Love yall and yall stay safe and healthy. Email me pls. It would make my week.

What yall know about Casey's and their exclusives (look at that Mt Dew)

The prettiest road I've seen here

                                                                                        Some more fields

                                                                                People out here are funny

This guy was smoking weed on a corner and he was selling his daughters paintings so we bought this art piece for the price of a quarter

Exchanges and chicken. A ghetto little chicken shack place, it was fire.

Kansas University. Just kidding it's some like side branch thingy. Thought it was cool tho.

A beautiful sunset. The Samsung does not do it justice.
