Sick and sicker
Howdy yall, how is everybody doing? I appreciated all of those that reached out for my bday. Definitely made the mission bday a lot better. Mission bdays are just regular days lol. The sisters upstairs got me a cake tho so that was super sweet. Email me and let me know how your doing, I love hearing from yall.
Well, not much happened this week. I was sick all week but still went out and did work. So i went through like 5 packages of kleenex all week. That was fun. But, anyways, we had exchanges on Tuesday. I went out with Elder Carpenter to my area Rose Hill which was fun. Got to love good ole Rose Hill. I've kind of started to enjoy the simplicity of Rose Hill. But ya, we went out there with not much success. Then, we wrapped up the day with some dinner at Pho King. Pretty sure they meant for the title to sound like that. Don't try to pronounce it. But ya that was good.
Not many miracles this week other than the fact that we got somebody to church finally. Her name is Jamia and she came for 10 minutes and then dipped haha. She missed out on the primary program which is basically the best Sunday of the year. I'm just glad that she came even if it was only for 10 minutes. We put this other girl named Yohana on date for baptism, but her guardian then told us the next day that she didn't want her to ever get baptized and that she doesn't want her to go to church. So that was a bummer. Wasn't a very successful week for mission work. That's alright tho, we're coming back better than ever.
My comp got super sick on Friday. So he checked out that day. We actually did some cool service that day for a company that provides for the homeless. It was actually super fun. Starting to really enjoy service out here. But ya, he checked out through that but we still did mission work that day. The next day, woke up and like he couldn't get out of bed. So I just sat in the apartment all day doing whatever to entertain myself. Watched a lot of conference talks and did a lot of reading in the scriptures. Sick days on the mission suck, let me tell ya.
The people out here are hilarious tho. Last night, me and my comp had a dinner with a member family. Which is usually just regular dinner, talking about life and mission work. But, the day before, my comp told me that the mother of the family always talks about how members need to have a better love life. Yes, yall know what I'm talking about. I just don't know if I'm allowed to say it on this email. But anyways, I was nervous to hear what was going to be talked about at dinner. Surprisingly she never started talking about that. But she did start talking about her getting pregnant and having 2 babies within like 20 months. She called herself a "baby machine". Then she went on a rant, basically yelling at us that "breast feeding is not birth control". I don't even know what that means and I knew not to ask. Then she went on talking about a lot of other weird crap. That was funny for sure. The people out here are so interesting haha.
One miracle that happened this week was with this guy named Mark. Mark is a single 50 year old man. He had been ghosting us for a couple of weeks. Which was weird to us because he loved talking to us. But, we come to find out that he's got a lot of problems. So he's kinda going through it in life right now. We finally caught him in his front yard. We had a super long conversation about life and it was super spiritual. Just basically showed him that we were there for him and that we loved him. He then told us that he knew God kept bringing us back because he needs us. Which kind of made my day. Even though we had a crappy week of mission work, I'm just glad that I got to be able to help one person and talk them through life. That made up for everything. Just a reminder that's it not about baptizing. Sure that's nice. But in the end it's more about letting people know that they are loved and are not alone, just by supporting them and serving them.
That's all. I hope yall are having a fantastic week and I look forward to talking to yall next week. Have a fantastic day. Love yall
